Welcome to the new grown Order!

This web site has undergone a (fairly large) shift in design. The reason is simple : I'm working hard to crank out a new product, and I wanted this site to reflect the new product's personality:clean, minimal, and elegant.

Actually, why don't we take a moment to briefly introduce our new product.

It's called siid. It's a text editor that wants to hug your brain.

Ultra-clean

siid's interface is designed with your brain in mind. It was designed to not only appeal to the rational, robotic left-side (so to speak) ofyour brain, but to the creative, beauty-loving right side as well. Your text is front and centre -- because we know it really is the star of the show.

Pimp-able

On the flip side, siid is also designed to make customization quick and fun. It starts out like a blank canvas, but doesn't have to staythat way, nor does it want to. It uses Ruby for its customization [a language that defines quickness and fun], and has an API that's built to feel at home there.

Please stay tuned for more over the next few months.

Polishing...

The editor is pretty much done. Been using it myself for the last month or so. Working on the documentation and the web site. Making the editor with Ruby was the best decision ever. I am enjoying polishing it, and I cannot wait to show it off.
the hour

An hour is just about the perfect amount of time to chunk your work by. It's enough time that you don't feel insanely pressured, and yet short enough that you need to ensure you focus.
excitement still building...

I am writing this post from within my new editor. All major infrastructure work for this first version is now done. Just lots of polishing to do. This time I am swearing to myself that I will not add any more to the server. Just lots of love for the interface.

Just got World of Goo and am sufficiently inspired to give the editor the TLC it needs.

Still at it
2009-05-07

So, I'm still working away at the editor. I recently realized that the highlighting scheme I had come up with could be a lot better and faster, especially for large files. So I took 2 weeks and revamped it. There are still a few bugs to work out, but it generally kicks ass.

On a completely tangential note, I just 'discovered' the 2d boy gaming company. They totally rule. If I could ever find the right person, I would totally love to hack away at the editor like that...just a small group rocking the world while sticking to building games on a technically simple platform (2-dimensional). Very inspiring. My work continues, and I think if I just stick with it, I will eventually get there.
